Nowadays communication via the Internet is becoming more and more popular. Still, there is an opinion that virtual communication has a negative impact on people's real-life social skills.
To my mind, the importance of this problem is exaggerated without a reason. Firstly, in our age of technology the Internet is the cheapest and the most avalible way of keeping in touch with each other and even with those who we would else lose any contact with. Secondly, virtual communication provides an opportumity to make friends from other countries, we are not able to meet if we do not travel. Finally, the Internet as a means of communication may help you to find acquaintances with the same interests and hobbies.
Nevertheless, there are those who are strongly against virtual communication. They say that it becomes more difficult for people to communicate in real life. Besides, they believe that those who spend a lot of time in front of their computers become too lazy and forget how to build up new social contacts.
However, I cannot agree with these statements. There are people who are too shy to start relationships themselves, and the Internet may help them build up natural communication because it is not that stressful for them as in real life. Moreover, modern teenagers use Internet mostly to be in touch with their real friends.
To conclude, I can say that everybody should decide for themselves whether to use Internet communication or not, considering all the possible advantages and disadvantages.
