Besides, they can get a lot of friends with other sense of life, who can tell a lot of interesting things, which cannot be found in the books. More than that, this friends can show such places, which you cannot watch at the usually tours. One the other hand, travelling is very expensive, because you must pay for tickets, hotels, food etc. Besides many people must hard working for do this. By the way most of people have a few times for journeys, because vacation is only one month. For this reason they must planning his trips. To sum up, travels are very interesting. It is better than staying at home. People can advance and take a pride. Besides, they can study to be in strange places, but for this traveler must be work.
Not the worst way to study geography is to read books about history of wars (!) and to use maps in plenty. To conclude, travel is an excellent way to study geography and to meet people, but before go in other countries you must study theoretical knowledge about them. For example language, laws, traditions, nature, endemic diseases etc., and have very much money of course.

I think that traveling is a good way for learning geography, but travelling is better when you want to rest during your holidays. You can travel to warm countries, if you want to rest, but you can go to nothern countries, if you want to know something new.
